Type of trip: Private
Trip Duration: 12 Days
Starting: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Finishing: Siem Reap, Cambodia
Trip Grading: Regular itinerary, moderate walking
Destinations: Phnom Penh - Stung Trang – Balung – Kretie – Kompong Cham -  Siem Reap – Tonle Sap – Siem Reap

Day 01: Phnom Penh Arrival
Arrive in the capital and visit Phnom Penh’s main attractions including the National Museum, the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 02: Phnom Penh (B)
Explore this ever changing metropolis, taking in Wat Phnom and the Russian Market as well as the Tuol  Sleng Museum and the poignant Killing Fields. A day looking into the past and the future of these enchanting and energetic people.

Day 03: Phnom Penh – Stung Trang (B)
Transfer to Stung Treng and take a boat ride out to Thala Bariwatt historical site. Stung Treng marks Cambodia’s northern border with Laos and the point where the Mekong River enters Cambodia. Originally a part of Laos, Stung Treng switched to Cambodian ownership during the French period and to this day you hear Lao spoken in town.
Day 04: Stung Trang – Balung (B)
Today drive to Banlung, capital of Ratanakiri Province. There will be the chance to swim in Boeng Yeak Lom Lake, before heading for Cha Ong Waterfall. At the end of the day, walk up Eisey Pak Ta Mak Mountain to admire the sunset.

Day 05: Balung (B)
Today drive out to Ven Sai village to meet some ethnic minority groups. Afterwards visit Ka Chanh Waterfall. Overnight in Balung.
Day 06: Balung – Stung Trang – Kretie (B)
This morning transfer via Stung Treng to Kratie, and then take a boat to observe the endangered fresh water Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong River.  As few as 80 dolphins remain in the waters, and while there are ongoing and comprehensive conservation projects underway, dolphin mortality remains high.
Dolphins aside, Kratie province is known for its pleasing riverside scenery and verdant village and rice paddies.

Day 07: Kretie – Kompong Cham (B)
En route to Kompong Cham, stop at a rubber plantation and the historical hill temples of Phnom Srei and Phnom Pros. Overnight in Kompong Cham.
Day 08: Kompong Cham – Siem Reap (B)
Before arriving in Siem Reap, discover Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Group, an important cultural and historical site and one that is rarely visited by tourists. Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 09: Angkor Tour (B)
Prepare to ‘wow’ yourselves at the magnificent, amazing, outstanding, utterly memorable and awe inspiring Angkor Complex, beginning with Angkor Thom. In the afternoon enter Angkor Wat Temple and witness sunset from Phnom Bakheng.
Day 10: Angkor Tour (B)
Continue to explore the Angkor Complex with Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei temples. Later take in the “big circuit” containing Preah Kanh, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon and Pre Rup temples. Each temple has individual characteristics and is fascinating it its own right.
Day 11: Siem Reap – Tonle Sap (B)
Today head for Tonle Sap Lake, South East Asia’s largest lake, and visit a floating village as well as Artisans D’Angkor, a local carving school.  Finish our comprehensive stay at Angkor with the Rolous
Temple Group.
Day 12:  Siem Reap departure (B)
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for flight depature.
